Junior high school
by Anders N. Kvammen
A performance for young people based on a Brage Prize-winning graphic novel about being outsiders and finding your own thing.
Aksel starts middle school and quickly becomes a victim of bullies. The teachers don't really take action and eventually a creeping feeling comes over him that Aksel doesn't understand. He sweats and everything feels scary and empty. He finds comfort in small moments with a cycling buddy. Being a so-called nerd isn't easy, and when Aksel loses the one he loves the most, everything becomes really hard. Is there an answer to the existential question: What happens after death?
The play depicts the existential period of adolescence and is about daring to be yourself, despite everything, even if it costs a little – and finding your own thing, like creating comics.
The Youth School is a collaboration between Tigerstadsteatret and Oslo Nye Teater. The performance will also be performed for youth through Den kulturellter skolesekken.
Premiere: September 29, 2021 in Oslo Nye Trikkestallen
NB: Please note that stage smoke is used in the performance.
