Nothing
“Nothing matters. Therefore, there is no point in doing anything.” With these words, Pierre-Anthon leaves the classroom and sits in his father’s plum tree. The class stays behind. Struck by Pierre-Anthon’s call every morning from the tree, they slowly lose faith in school, the future, and the meaning of life. They decide to disprove him.
In an abandoned sawmill, they begin to gather all the things that truly matter to them. The audience in the sawmill witnesses the class's increasingly desperate struggle to get Pierre-Anthon down from the tree.
But is he really right? Doesn't anything matter?
Nothing by Janne Teller is a performance for young people. It had its Norwegian premiere on March 1, 2019 at Trikkestallen at Torshov in Oslo. The performance won the Hedda Prize for best youth performance in 2019.
Theater for the youth!
Adolescence is a very important time in life. The big questions about values and the meaning of life may be knocking on your door for the first time. The questions will be there like a nagging itch and it is not easy to pretend nothing is happening when you are going to get an education, a career, make money and become something. What can you do if you are pressured because someone is challenging your values and the way you live your life?
Nothing is an exploration of precisely such big questions – Why am I here? What is the meaning of life?
In an everyday life that sometimes feels meaningless, creating theater for young people is a great gift. Adolescence is a time of opportunity where the struggle for one's own identity is in focus and where values are formed. We want to take that journey with you.
Dear young people, we at Tigerstad Theatre are proud to present the performance Nothing for you. Together with Oslo Nye Teater, we will create theatre for you and for you, at Trikkestallen in the years to come! We hope to see you again!
